How to Make Repeat Sales with Shopify
How to Make Repeat Sales with Shopify - I'll level with you – many online business models are lazy. It means they are lazy or they are not very ambitious. What do I mean by this? I mean, they tend to go back to tried and tested methods. Methods such as creating a blog and then promoting the ebook.
Online businesses tend to fall into one of two camps:
In one camp you have 'internet marketers' who often only sell this ebook, or maybe affiliate products.
And in the other camp you have a brick and mortar business that sees the web as a way to get more customers and that's about it.
Either way, neither of these businesses use the web to its full potential.
Far from it.
There is much more you can do with an online business and a great example is creating a membership site or subscription product.
From there, there are tons of additional apps, tools, and services that you can use to build on that basic model and achieve some really ingenious methods of generating revenue.
In this article, you'll learn everything you might need to know to make it happen – from how to set up a membership site with Shopify, to the types of products you can sell from one and how you can leverage your app to take your store development to the next level.
In this article we will simply take a tour of membership sites and subscription products and in doing so, we will take a look at two very unique business models that go beyond.
The basic 'online business' model we tend to look at.
When you take the time to look at some of the other products available and when you let your imagination go, there are other models that are much better. efficient way to make money.
1. Business Model 1 - Selling Subscription Products
The first business model will be selling subscription products. As you read on, you'll see how it's even more effective than it sounds.
Of course selling any kind of subscription is always a great strategy. When you sell subscriptions instead of one time, you can set up recurring payments which means you'll get a guaranteed profit every week, every month or every three months.
To do this, it's usually a good idea to start with a website. If you have a website with your own regular audience, then this will make it easier for you to sell products because you have already earned the trust of those users.
Next, you need to create your product. There are many products you can sell this way. For example, why not take a regular ebook you normally sell and split it into chapters? From there, you can sell them as 'lessons' as part of an older course.
You can even sell physical products this way. For example, if you sell clothes, why not create a subscription service where your shoppers get a selection of matching items each month, giving them completely new clothes that they can wear regularly?
There are many sites that sell diet plans this way – where every week or month the customer receives a packaged lunch with all the ingredients separate so they can cook easily and still follow their diet guidelines! Other things like supplements are suitable for subscriptions.
You can even set up a retail business – buying products and then repackaging them into some sort of 'package' specifically for your audience. There is no risk because you get paid at the beginning of the month and then you can reinvest that money into the product!
Now to take this model to the next level, all you need to do is get some affiliates (marketers who will earn commissions for promoting your sales) which you can do pretty easily with a number of Shopify plugins! Now you will have tons of marketers promoting your monthly/weekly services!
2. Business Model 2 - Membership Site
A membership site is any website that requires a regular paid membership to unlock all content. The idea is that some of your content will be behind a paid wall – so only members of your premium site can see it.
This is a great business model if you are already a blogger, as it means you can get regular and reliable payments for the services you already provide. What you need to do is make sure that the content in your members area is of better quality. You will do this by adding more media (such as videos) or by ensuring that the topics covered are ones that cannot be found elsewhere.
Creating a member forum is also a good idea, as the community can become self-sustaining and help you grow your audience even more. If you really believe in the service you provide, why not offer a free membership for a month? That way, your users will be able to see the excellent service you provide risk-free and decide for themselves whether they want to sign up. You can even ask your subscribers to contribute their own content – thus adding more value to members without you having to do extra work!
